Leeson Park Players are delighted to present “Winter One Act Plays” – a series of three bite-size one act plays to ease us all back into live theatre. The one act plays include two by Anton Chekhov and a third original show written by an LPP member, Simone Wallace Sav.

#1 / Palindrome (duration 35 mins) Written & directed by Simone Wallace SavPalindrome is the story of an Irish Belgian family reuniting after many years to decide whether their only surviving parent, who is showing more and more symptoms of suffering from dementia, should be put in a nursing home.  A time for memories, secrets and learning to relieve a buried truth, with a surprising family decision. A play for all.

#2 / The Bear (duration 35 mins) Written by Anton Chekhov, directed by John McCarthy

The Bear (or The Boor) is a much-loved one-act comedy by Chekhov, first performed in Moscow in 1888. Ilena Ivanovna Popova is a recently widowed landowner. Grigory Stepanovitch Smirnov is middle-aged landowner intent on collecting a debt owed by Popova’s late husband.


#3 / The Proposal (duration 20 mins) Written by Anton Chekov, directed by Charles Richards The Proposal  is a one-act farce by Anton Chekhov, first performed in 1890. It is a fast-paced play in which a young man Lomov comes to propose to his neighbour Natalya but they both keep on fighting on various topics.
